Jeanine Yonashiro-Cho is a post-doctoral scholar at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine where she is engaged in research to promote the health, well-being, and safety of older adults and their communities. Recognizing the indispensable role that caregivers play in supporting older adults and creating just and age-friendly communities, Dr. Yonashiro-Cho’s research seeks to support and empower caregivers, equipping them to prevent and respond to mistreatment. Her current projects include work to explore risk factors for mistreatment among individuals living with dementia and screening for mistreatment in primary care settings.

Dr. Yonashiro-Cho’s approach to research is informed by her early professional experiences working in local aging and public health networks. She recently received a KL2 award to engage in clinical and translational research with Asian American and Pacific Islander communities to explore dementia caregiving practices in these communities and develop culturally-tailored caregiving interventions.
